HCG Diet Explained

What is the HCG diet?

The HCG diet combines a small dosage of a specialized hormone with a specific diet.  The combination of these two things is designed to rid your system of body fat that cannot be eradicated through exercise and diet alone.  In other words, the HCG diet is specifically designed to burn fat in your midsection, as well as in other areas of your body with large fat reserves, including saturated fat.

How does the diet work?

The HCG diet tells you to consume a small amount of the hormone along with small amounts of food.  The diet, created by a doctor who conducted research on HCG, allows you to eat 500 calories a day.  This may not seem like a lot of food, but it is not considered a starvation diet.  Your body will tap into your fat reserves giving it needed energy to function.

What is HCG?

HCG is a natural hormone in women.  It is massively produced during pregnancy and ensures proper nutrients are being provided to the unborn baby.  HCG acts as a catalyst for the hypothalamus, which helps migrate stored fat into the bloodstream.  This process is designed to use the stored fat as food or energy and is believed to reset your body’s metabolism.  It also helps protect your body’s productive fat, as well as prevents muscle tissue from breaking down.  Muscle tissue break down has been known to occur in other low calorie diets without the use of HCG.

What are some of the positive?

HCG can be consumed through drops.  They do not require injections.  If the diet is properly followed, typical weight loss of 20-30 lbs can occur in about 30-40 days.  People who’ve utilized the HCG diet have stated that they have more energy and less hunger.  The HCG Drops are convenient for traveling, have no expiration, and do not require refrigeration or mixing.

What are some of the negative?

Headaches, restlessness, minor water retention, and tender breast tissue are some of the side affects people have reported.

Why use HCG drops vs injections?

Opinions vary on the question of whether drops are better than injections.  Some researchers say they’ve seen the same if not better results from drops.  They state that people who’ve consumed drops have reported less muscle loss, more effective hunger control, and higher levels of energy compared to those who’ve been injected.

Who discovered HCG diet?

Dr. A.T.W. Simeons discovered the HCG diet.  He first published a report on the subject in 1954.  He devoted years of research on human obesity.
